Many families in Savar have a member working in the Gulf, Europe, North America or East Asia. Buying a home back in Bangladesh while living abroad is common, but it needs more discipline about paperwork and communication. These are the points that matter most.

Do the first viewing by video, then send someone you trust

Ask for a live video walkthrough of the unit, the road, the gate and the surrounding area, not an edited clip. Then ask a relative or friend to attend an in-person visit and to photograph the documents being shown. A guided site visit with the developer's team helps both sides stay accurate.

Appoint a lawyer who works for you

Choose your own lawyer rather than relying only on the seller's. They should review the document file, the agreement and the payment schedule. If you cannot be present for signing or registration, a power of attorney may be used. The exact form, attestation and the Bangladesh mission or notary requirements should be confirmed with your lawyer before you sign anything.

Keep every payment traceable

Pay through banking channels and keep the transfer record for each instalment. Match every payment to a line in the written schedule and ask for a receipt that names the unit. Do not pay cash to individuals, and do not pay any amount that is not in the schedule.

Get the document set sent to you

A reputable developer will share scanned copies of the deed chain, mutation, approved plan, tax receipts and soil test, and courier certified copies on request. Read them with your lawyer on a video call so questions are answered before money moves.

Plan for the unit while you are away

Decide early whether you will live in the flat, leave it for family, or rent it out. Property management and rent collection can be arranged locally so an owner abroad does not have to chase tenants or repairs.

If you are an NRB considering Savar DOHS, our team can arrange a remote viewing, share the document set and answer questions in Bangla and English. Start from our buying page or register your interest.
